Autumn Chill's 2017 Blue Roan Filly
12/15/17 - Priceless. A foal only four months old and already friendly enough to let you play with her feet. Although, not my first foul, I have had a few foals before, this is the most unique; the calmest, well-mannered foal I have ever been around. A filly of Blue Raptor and Autumn’s Chill, one would imagine a blend of ice and fury, instead the mix reveals an animal I can barely resist bringing in the house with me every night. Clearly this filly is very young, but here is a foal already imprinted with a fondness for people, an eagerness to waltz into a trailer and the poise to patiently await a halter. We thought we were taking a risk purchasing an animal off the internet from Shadow Ridge Stables, but the risk was not discovering Joe and Shannon in the first place. Obviously they have equestrian gifts which this foal lauds. You can tell your friends that this foal is sold and absolutely no amount of money will part us from this animal, but, perhaps, Shadow Ridge Stables has another absolutely breath taking, mild mannered foal that also knows how to unload as calm as she entered the trailer five hours before; one trained to lead and one that walks right to the stall without hesitation. No tugging or jumping just a smooth glide from the trailer to the stall. Then yesterday, the most astonishing thing I’ve ever experienced: she was lying down in the stall when I opened the door and edged beside her, before kneeling by her side. Although alert and carefully watching my move, she remained relaxed, resting until I got up to leave. It was magical
Thank you Joe and Shannon for bring such joy into the world and caring for it. I can’t wait to see what this filly can do and, perhaps I’ll share other experiences with you in the years to come. Thank you for your attention to detail, your expert advice, and completely and honest answers. It is hard to know what you are getting into when you are looking at an internet picture. Trust is a huge issue. I want you to know that you have my complete trust and my profound respect. What a pleasure to do business with you. You have provided decades of joy and happiness that will impact our family for generations to come. Well done! --- Mary, AL

Gold Hunter
03/05/15: Hi Nikki,
Just wanted to let you know how happy we are with Gold Hunter (now "Cherokee" - in honor of his TN roots)! I posted this shout out for you all in one of our favorite Facebook forums. I hope it gets you a few customers!
Feel free to use this as a testimonial. Thanks for everything!!
Thanks again for everything! We couldn't be happier with a beautiful palomino love bug!!!
8/23/15: Hi Nikki! I was the crazy lady that came down from MD and bought Gold Hunter from you, Black and Joe. I love, love, love this guy to pieces and couldn't be happier with him. They say the TWH is prized for their versatility and I can certainly attest to that. He's taken me on countless trail rides and now rides endurance with me all over the East coast. It's mostly Arabians and Arabian crosses in the endurance world...but he holds his own and does an outstanding job. He always seems to be the center of attention when we go on group rides. Thanks again for my fabulous love bug! He's the gentlest soul and does everything to protect me

12/24/14: Hi Nikki, Merry Christmas ! I wanted to let you know that Buck is doing very well, my trainer thinks he's just a wonderful horse and is very intelligent. He's learning lots of new things, and does so with ease and quickly. I'm enjoying him so very much. My husband and I are hoping to take a few days to travel your way again and look at a couple of horses. We were hoping to come down sometime in February....Thanks, Mary.
12/7/14: I just wanted to let you know that Bojangles is doing great. He is just wonderful, I have been ill since purchasing him, but that doesn't stop me from grooming and feeding him lots of treats. He is such a gentleman, walks calmly with me while walking with my cane and oxegyn machine. I couldn't be more pleased with him!!! Thank you Blackie and Family for letting us take care of each other......Sandi Rowse, NV
10/18/14: We purchased Antonio (we call him Cappuccino) from you in Jan of 2011. Im sorry it took me forever to let you know how amazing he is doing. We love him to pieces. He is still my daughters best buddy. Cappie has such an amazing personality. I cant imagine our farm without him. We are talking about adding another horse next year and you can bet we will contact you if/when we are ready. Thank you again.

One thing we found is that she loves the sprinkler
We took her up with my wife's walker Maizy for her training
The trainer fell in love with both of them
I just want to thank you for a wonderful addition to our family.

9/21/14: Buck is doing great at his new home. I'm so very pleased with him and want to thank Nikki & Black and all for such a great experience in buying my first horse. No transaction could ever be easier and less stressful than this was. I will definitely be back for a second horse as soon as possible.
Thanks so much.

Nov. 3rd, 2013: Captain, aka now Legend, made his journey safely. I wanted to say how much we appreciated your help with any questions we had and the work you went through with getting him ready for us. He leads like a dream and even as scary as a trip from one side of TN to the other must be for a not quite 5 month old colt, he was very level headed and responsive to everything we asked of him. He is a beautifully put together horse and already (day 2 in a new place) is willing to come over to me in the open field and let me pet him. He's made a few friends in two of our horses, an old gelding and a young mare (He sticks to the mare like glue already which she likes except for meal times :)) Just wanted to say thanks again it was a great experience!

Oct. 12th, 2014: It's nearly been a year just wanted to send you a few pictures of Legend! He is the calmest and sweetest stud colt I think we have ever had. The kids and the dogs don't phase him at all! All the pictures are from my cell phone and don't do him justice.
Thanks again!

Sept. 29th, 2013: I just thought I would give you an update on Smoky Lady and Tango. Both horses have turned out to be wonderful. Smoky Lady shows signs of wanting to be the dominant mare, so we will see how that goes in our small herd. The two have not yet been mixed in with my other three. I put a lot of miles on both horses to assure that they are safe for anyone and to get lughead Smoky Lady off the bit a little more. I have never had a behavior issue with them. You represented them well.
Both are used frequently as lessons horses. After MUCH begging, I have somehow fallen back into giving riding lessons. Both horse have demonstrated amazing patience and flexibility. Tango has even showed some skill in jumping. He is on two-foot jumps with the more secure riders and flies over four-footers with me. Since she is pregnant, Smoky Lady is gently used more for western riding lessons, but she and Tango love the mountain trail rides especially. I have to watch her whenever I hitch the horse trailer in the pasture, because she insists she gets to go somewhere.
The second photo is of the two horses with two of my students aboard. It was these students' first ride outside the arena. All went well. Tango especially took care of his rider, who is recovering from open heart surgery and has logged only 16 hours of riding in his life.
Mom (who is 76) has just finally ridden Smoky Lady (yesterday and today). The photo of the woman in the Broncos jacket is she. I am shooting the photo over Tango's head. No matter how much she has watched lessons, she has not felt comfortable with riding Smoky Lady. Smoky Lady is pretty adept at adjusting to her rider's skill level, but Mom just thought that she would go too fast for her. Smoky Lady walked so slowly with her that Tango and I got in a lot of practice at loping giant circles around them! Tango and I were pooped after two hours, but Smoky Lady hadn't broken a sweat. Mom likes her now (and brags that the students don't make her mind). I think Smoky Lady sleepwalked through the two rides, but don't tell Mom! Smoky lady was perfect!
Thank you for two great horses. They have become important members of our horse family, and they get amazing comments everywhere they go.

Sept. 10, 2013: Hey Nikki!
I just wanted to let you and your dad know how good Moxie (Missy) is doing. She has settled in nicely with the heard where I'm boarding her. The girls and I have been spending time with her every day and she is just amazing! I was able to find a gaited saddle made by TN Saddlery that is very similar to an Imus and it fits her perfectly!
The farrier came today and checked her out and said she's in excellent condition.
We adore her already and I just can't thank you and your family enough for being so patient with us and helping us to make a wonderful decision!!
I'm definitely sending people your way and when it comes time for our second horse, we will be back!!
All the best,
Heidi - Knoxville, TN

04/04/13: Dear Blackie and Nikki,
We are so grateful for the wonderful experience that we had purchasing Little White Lies from you. You were so patient and helpful, answering our multiple emails and phone calls, making the purchase go as smoothly as possible, and we are thrilled with our new horse, who we call Dream, as she is a dream-come-true. I rode her today for the second time, this time with just Ron on his Arab Kid Rock, and I really experienced her wonderful gaits, first when Kid went into his trot, and then when Kid went into his canter/gallop, and I experienced just how fast she could go. It was exhilarating. We love Dream and she is everything you said she’d be and more. She has a wonderful bold, curious, and sweet personality, and we are so thrilled with our first gaited horse. Included are some pictures of Dream getting ready for our ride today and out riding with her new buddy Kid Rock.
Much thanks, Robin and Ron - FL

Blackie-we've been meaning to send you an update on FlashTail for months but never seemed to get it done. Just wanted to tell you that he has turned out to be an extraordinay horse. We moved him to a 40 acre pasture with several other horses after 2 months of stall boarding and he loves it. In fact, he's become the herd's leader even though there was a larger and very aggressive horse in the herd who was the leader. He's still a big puppy and follows Kerrigan everywhere. He's easy to catch (actually, all Kerrigan has to do is find him and once he sees her he comes right to her...he still likes his "groceries"). He is alot bigger and stronger now and his coat and colors are stunning (flecked copper w/that incredible tail is the best way to describe it). Anyway, wanted to thank you again for selling us such a fantastic horse. You have made a young girl's dream come true and we truly appreciated your honesty and straight-forwardness when we bought Flashtail. He's everything and more you'd said he'd be. Thanks again. Hey, I just wanted to let y'all know that Kadance and I made it safely back to NC. No problems whatsoever and so far, she has just been a jewel. . . Cheryl Proctor
Nov. 9, 2011: I just thought I'd send you a few pictures of Kadance. She and I are doing great; she is making an awesome trail horse. We just returned from Myrtle Beach, SC. Nothing seemed to phase her. She was a little leery of the ocean but curious at the same time . . . Well, my vacations typically consist of camping/riding for long weekends a couple times a month, so yes - she goes on vacation with me! lol We've been all over Virginia and North Carolina and then the one trip to Myrtle Beach, SC last week. The beach trip is the one that I do every year in the fall so she'll be going back every year. It's a fundraiser for the American Hear Association. The wagons, mules, bikes, carriages, backhoes, ocean never even phased her. Not to mention the other 1129 horses on the beach! I was pretty proud of her. She's a good girl and I cant tell you how much I'm enjoying her! She is a spoiled girl.:-)

July 20, 2011: Blackie, Just thought I'd give you an update. Everything is going really well. Erin and I are getting her (now named Hera) ready for an ACTHA event the beginning of November. Hopefully she'll be ready. Attached is a couple of pictures of her new life. Thanks so much. She's a great horse for me. . . . Lori McEntee
April 14, 2011: First of all, the whole family loves him and he loves the family ...He feels like he has to constantly protect the kids from all the outside interference's. They can be with him in the arena and if someone drives by or walks by he gets between the kids and the other person. He will literally box my daughter between himself and the fence and turn around and stare at a stranger with head held high and snorting. I have never heard of such a thing but I've seen it with my own eyes...I think his horse IQ is off the charts...We have an AWESOME horse...Steve Upchurch
